Henry C. Hancock’s Sword

Our own Joe Allport, with the Milam Lodge of Nacogdoches, is holding the sword of Capt. Henry C. Hancock, Company A, 17th Texas Cavalry, C.S.A.  He is standing with Jane Edwards, President of the Nacogdoches Chapter of the UDC that is named in Capt. Hancock’s honor. Capt. Hancock was the Worshipful Master of the Milam Lodge and the only WM to die in battle. His sword, that Joe is holding, was bequeathed to the Lodge by his widow, two years after his death at the Battle of Mansfield. .
