Stone Fort Camp #1944

Nacogdoches, Texas

Texans At Antietam

"This book is a collection of photographs and reminisces from soldiers of Hood's Texas Brigade who witnessed combat during the battle and includes After Action Reports, letters, newspaper articles, book excerpts and so forth. The stories are arranged in a format that provides combat unit structure and bio-sketches of these authors. The final chapters include correspondence from Confederate generals along with memories provided by soldiers from other brigades who fought in the battle and moved to Texas after the War. There is also a fascinating contribution from a famous American author whose grandfather served in the 1st Texas Infantry and fought gallantly in the Battle of Antietam/Sharpsburg. "
